I have the honour to apply for any vacancy that may be created in the Education Department of the Colony of Hong Kong through the resignation of Dr. E. J. Eitel, the Inspector of Schools.
1885 I was appointed Headmaster of the Anglo Chinese Academy in Hong Kong, a private institution supported by some of the leading native merchants. On the termination of the period for which I had been engaged I resigned that position and joined the staff of the Government Central School now Queen's College where I have been an Assistant master since February 1887.
As to my professional qualifications I would state that I am a trained teacher holding the Certificate of the Education Department, a graduate of St. Peter's College, Cambridge, and a member of the Inner Temple.
Moreover I am ... In the Local Civil Service Examination for which I voluntarily prepared myself. I obtained the mark "Great Credit" in the 1st and 6th and "Credit" in the 3rd, 4th and 5th.
The mark "Great Credit" in my final examination is, I believe, the highest ever awarded to a master in Queen's College. Particulars of my success in teaching ...
